Terms
The terms that apply when you use the NAPAS website — and the important limits of what this organization is and is not.
Agreement to these terms
By using stopattorneysuicide.org (the “site”), operated by the National Association for the Prevention of Attorney Suicide (“NAPAS,” “we,” “our”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What NAPAS is — and is not
NAPAS is a non-profit organization focused on research, education, and outreach related to attorney mental health. The site exists to share peer-reviewed research, organizational information, and public-facing education.
NAPAS is not a crisis service. We do not provide counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, or any form of clinical care. Nothing on this site constitutes medical, psychological, or legal advice. If you are in immediate danger, contact a local emergency service. For ongoing mental health support, please consult a qualified professional or your state bar’s Lawyer Assistance Program.
Permitted use
You may read, share, and cite the content on this site for non-commercial, educational, and informational purposes. When citing research linked from this site, please cite the original publisher of the work — not NAPAS — as the source of the underlying research.
You agree not to:
- Use the site in any way that violates applicable law
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or its underlying systems
- Interfere with the site’s operation, security, or availability
- Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or extract data beyond what is reasonably needed to read the site
- Misrepresent NAPAS, its board members, or its positions
Intellectual property
Content authored by NAPAS — including text, graphics, the NAPAS wordmark, and the visual design of the site — is the property of NAPAS or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may quote and link to our content with attribution; you may not reproduce substantial portions of the site without our written permission.
Linked research papers, journal articles, and other third-party works remain the property of their respective publishers and authors. We make no claim to that content.
Third-party links
The site links to external research papers, journals, and partner organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Submissions
If you send us research citations, feedback, or other materials, you grant NAPAS a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use, review, and reference those materials in connection with our mission. Do not send confidential information unless you are comfortable with this term.
Disclaimer
The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” While we work to keep the information on the site accurate and current, we make no warranties — express or implied — about the completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of any content on the site. Research summaries are provided for educational reference only.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NAPAS, its board members, officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the site is to stop using it.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold NAPAS harmless from any claims arising from your misuse of the site or violation of these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from the site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
